"The Smena (смена: 'change') is a viewfinder camera for 35mm film developed and made by GOMZ. Since 1957 it was also manufactured by MMZ. The Smena went through at least 15 versions, running until the 1990s. USSRPhoto shows the original Smena model from 1939, a strut-folding bellows camera for unperforated 35mm film with paper backing, a copy of the Kodak Bantam. Subsequent Smena models are quite different, rigid-bodied cameras. The series was re-started with the Smena 1 of 1953, as shown here: the first Smena-2 of 1955 is synchronised for flash.
