"The XR-1 is an SLR from Ricoh introduced in 1977 as the company's first SLR to use K-mount lenses, joined by the autoexposure XR-2. The XR-1 requires two 1.5v silver-oxide batteries only to power its match-needle light meter, using CdS cells within the pentaprism housing. The vertically-traveling, metal focal-plane shutter is entirely mechanical. This offers speeds from 1 to 1/1000 sec. and a 1/125 flash sync speed. Unusually, there is a multiple-exposure function provided, using the "M.E" button on the rear of the camera, below the wind lever. There is a window above the lens aperture ring which allows the…"
