"The Canon V is a series of rangefinder camera released by Canon in 1956. The "V" in the name is the Roman numeral, while the "T" stands for "trigger" and "L" stands for "lever" to differentiate the film winder method. Canon had a history of making cameras that rivaled Leica and (at least since the Canon IIB of 1949) arguably improved on Leica designs, but after seeing the Leica M3 at Photokina 1954 the Canon engineers strived to improve their products in response to it.
